Tuesday was one of my favorite days of the whole trip! Here’s what we did:

We sat under a 400-year-old tree and toured a shrine in the mountains.

We visited Shiraito Waterfall. I took a hike and enjoyed the views!

We spent the rest of the day going to different spots around Itoshima Beach. We saw Totoro Forest, a hiking path covered with trees. This trail led us to a rocky shore where we had a moment to sit and take in the beauty!

After that, we went to see the “Couple Stones”. These are two big rocks several meters off the beach that have been designated as a Shinto shrine. We walked in the sand and collected shells. I could be convinced we were in Hawaii if the shrine wasn't there!

Finally, we went to a portion of the beach with tons of palm tree swings—some of them were double-deckers! We had time to horse around and soak in the last bits of the beach for the day.

After that, we drove to the hotel on the bus, which helped us get around all day. A lot of us fell asleep on the ride back! Though worn out, I felt grateful for the opportunity to experience more of Japan! We have spent a lot of time in big cities, and so it was extra nice to spend a day out in nature!
